Cumbria and Yorkshire

The English Lake District

Cumbria is one of the most perfectly proportioned mountain areas you'll come across. The scenery is world class, and has attracted visitors for hundreds of years. The fells and crags have their own unique charm and their accessibility makes this a superb area to cut your teeth walking and climbing. With a wealth of accommodation and good transport links it's a perfect base, whether learning mountaincraft and navigation or climbing and scrambling.

The compact nature of the Lake District means that an infinite variety of days out can be had. Having a guide who can tailor the day to your needs will ensure you have the best possible experience.

Year-Round Guiding

Wastwater

Having visited the Lakes since early childhood, and lived there for almost a decade, I can say I know it better than most. The Lakes climate is somewhat less extreme than Scotland's and that allows for year-round fun! Whatever time of year you're going to be here I can help you get the very best from your visit. Just let me know what you want to do - for instance you could learn how to navigate with map and compass, walk the fells and dales, or have an introduction to scrambling or rock climbing. At the end of the day, you can rest assured that the quality and variety of Lakeland watering holes and eateries is second to none!

Climbing on Yorkshire limestone

Yorkshire Dales

The limestone scenery of the Yorkshire Dales is world-renowned, with its tapestry of open fell tops and deeply cut dales in which stone-built villages nestle. It's the perfect complement to the grandiose scenery of the Lakes, and can easily be explored from the same base. The sunny limestone scars are also a perfect place to learn rock craft.

The area is steeped in history, many of the villages being first established by the Saxons and the Vikings over a thousand years ago. Traditional methods of farming still survive and the area prides itself on its produce. Accommodation is plentiful and options for enjoying yourself in the outdoors are infinite. All you need is someone who can show you round.
