Wilderness Camping

Living in the Landscape

Being out in the open air with space all around you is certainly a wonderful experience, but living under canvas, even if only for a short time, adds a special touch of magic and brings you even closer to the environment.

Don't worry if you've never even put up a tent before. Expert help is on hand, all the planning and logistics are taken care of for you, leaving you free to live the dream!

Forget crowded campsites with noisy familys and caravans, this is the real thing!

Overnighting and short breaks

High camp in the Lake District An ideal way to get to know your surroundings is to get yourself into the heart of a unspoilt remote region, set up a base camp and stay for a night or two. Scotland has a wealth of superb locations for this, if you don't want to travel too far then Glencoe, Lochaber and the Central Highlands are within easy reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Further North and West the possibilities are endless.

Long hours of daylight make camping a pure joy, and chances of getting closer to the wildlife abound. Coming back to your cosy base camp already set up after a day in the hills is very satisfying!

Multi-day Treks

At Carnmore in Letterewe Areas such as Letterewe in Wester Ross , Assynt and Inverpolly, Knoydart, Ben Alder and Upper Glen Affric are among the most remote and innacessible in Europe. Taking several days under canvas here is every bit as rewarding as trekking in the Himalaya or the Peruvian Andes. Being far from civilisation for a few days is deeply rewarding in itself too.

Don't worry about carrying huge loads - you may carry a bit more than a light daysack but careful planning means you'll not be pushed into the ground by a huge pack. It's even possible to have home comforts! If you're fit enough to walk the hills you're fit enough for wilderness camping.

On these camping trips you'll find that all equipment is provided, except sleeping bags. Just bring that along with your normal outdoor kit. Meals are of high quality and you'll get the chance to help plan the menus, which can cater for any dietary requirements.
